Need

• Orange Ripstop Nylon - ~1 yard (56-60”w)

• Orange Polyester Thread

• Galvanized Wire (12 or 14 gauge)

• 1 can each, black, gray, white spray paint

• 2’ of ¼”drip irrigation hose

1)Layout the fabric... The drum will be ~3‘ high (1 yd) and the circumference will be the width of the fabric (~60“)

2) Sew a pocket for the galvanized wire at the top and bottom, and in approximately 1‘ from either end.

3) Sew the sides together and then turn inside out

4) Spray paint any logos you’re interested in using, such as the bio-hazard logo (see Resource Downloads for a template).

5) Measure the final circumference, and cut 4 pieces of galvanized wire to length, bend them in a circular shape, and then insert into pockets you just made (you may need to cut a slit on the inside of the barrel to do this). Use a piece of the ¼”drip irrigation hose to connect the ends.

6) Add supports to hold the fabric barrel upright... Cut to length a board, or wire the height of the barrel, and connect it inside the barrel to the top and bottom hoops, stretching them out.

7) Spray paint the fabric to make it look dirty with highlights and shadows.

8) Optional - Make a lid by sewing fabric over an additional hoop of wire.

9) Optional - Use spray foam on a hoop of wire and spray flourescent green to look like a radioactive substance coming out of the barrel.

See the PDF Download for step by step instructions.

This barrel is an eye catcher, and helps set the stage for a toxic waste, radioactive or bio-hazard haunt... And best of all, it collapses, and several will fit inside a standard trash bag for storage until needed again.
